ABOUT ME

My name is SoJeong Park, also known as Sunny. I’m 17, currently studying at International Academy East in Troy, Michigan. Originally from Korea, I moved to the U.S. in 2nd grade, and Michigan has felt like home ever since. Growing up as an immigrant, art was my constant—something that transcended language barriers and helped me make sense of new experiences.

I started drawing when I was four, and it quickly became my way of telling stories and working through emotions. Whether it’s a quick sketch or a more complex piece, art has always been where I go to explore, process, and connect with the world in a way that feels truly my own.

One of my biggest inspirations is Frank Ocean’s song Futura Free. Its themes of self-reflection and artistic freedom resonated with me so deeply that I named my art website after it. Futura Free is my personal space to explore the intersection of music and art. Each piece I create on the site is inspired by songs, translating sound into color, shape, and texture. It’s my way of showing how music can open up new perspectives and inspire creativity that might otherwise stay hidden.
Soon, I’m planning to release some of my work as NFTs, with part of the proceeds going to support art education. This project feels exciting because it not only lets me share my work in a fresh, digital way but also gives me the chance to support other young artists. I hope that by making art education more accessible, I can help others find their voice and creative freedom, just as art has helped me.
